Mahindra rolls out 1 millionth vehicle from each of 3 manufacturing plants

& Mahindra recently crossed a significant milestone, rolling out the 1
millionth vehicle from each of its three automotive manufacturing plants in
Chakan, Zaheerabad and Haridwar. With this, the automotive manufacturing
facilities in these three locations joined the 1 million club along with the
company’s Nashik and Kandivali plants.
Automotive plants are fully equipped manufacturing facilities with Press Shops,
Body Shops, CED Lines, Paint Shops and Assembly Lines, and many have won
several accolades since their inception.
Mahindra Vehicle Manufacturers Ltd., Chakan
is a fully-owned subsidiary of Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd set up in 2007. MVML
is a Greenfield facility built and established at Chakan, near Pune,
Maharashtra to integrate the best in manufacturing technology, operational
excellence, environmental sustainability and social responsibility. The facility
is accredited with the latest ISO 9001, ISO 140001 and OHSAS certifications.
As for the Zaheerabad Plant, its journey started back in 1985. M&M joined the hands in 1990 and became
100% subsidiary of M&M in 1995. The Mahindra product portfolio expanded to
include UV & 3Ws in addition to LCV.
Cumulative plant production crossed 1 lakh vehicles in 2005 and five
lakh vehicles in 2013. After successful
launch of Jeeto in 2015 volumes started growing at a faster pace and the plant
crossed significant milestone of 1 million vehicles in April-2019.
Mahindra Haridwar plant was inaugurated
on December 8, 2005 to cater the need of the customers from northern and
eastern part of the country. The plant began its manufacturing operations in
January 2006 and by the end of 2018 the facility started manufacturing a range
of vehicles – Bolero, Scorpio, Pickup, Champion, Alfa, eAlfa and GIO and
currently it produces 4 models & 44 variants. It took the Haridwar plant 8
years to achieve the first 5 lakh vehicle milestone, while the next 5 lakh
vehicle was produced within just 5 years.
